surrey film-video festival

What Happened at SF-VF 2000 .....

THE SURREY FILM-VIDEO FESTIVAL WAS HELD ON 7 MAY 2000. Movie makers in Surrey, Hants and Berks gave their support , with 34 entries giving us nearly five hours of material to cram into 4 hours of show time.

The Festival was held at the Electric Theatre, in the county town of Guildford. This superbly equipped theatre, opened in 1997 in the heart of the town for the specific promotion of the arts generally, boasts comfortable raked seating for 180 people, with integrated bar and refreshment facilities. We were again being sponsored by Harpers AV of Woking who kindly provided the video projection equipment.

The Festival was a Big Success - Here are the Awards....

Thanks to all those entrants who have provided entries. There were 18 Awards spread over 16 entrants and some facts and figures on the entries are listed below. All winners and selected others, were given a big-screen presentation, and every entrant received copies of the comments by each of an experienced panel of judges. There were no restrictions on the subject matter or running time of the entries.

One entry came from Slovakia and being just outside our Surrey catchment area, was invalid.  However, it was such a fascinating documentary film Bicevnik - Cowhide, we had a special showing of it at the end of the festival.  It was a good choice as it went down well with the audience and vindicated the festival organisers' view of bringing great entertainment to the festival visitors.
