Moving to Guildford...... the SF-VF in 1997

THE SURREY FILM-VIDEO FESTIVAL WAS HELD ON 23 November 1997 and moved to a new venue, only just opened, the Electric Theatre in Guildford.  This superbly equipped theatre, opened in January 1997 in the heart of the town is for the specific promotion of the arts generally, boasts comfortable raked seating for 180 people, with integrated bar and refreshment facilities. those of you familiar with the Festival will now that for several years now, we have been at the Bourne Hall, Ewell.  This was financially sustained by JVC's sponsorship and our gratefu thanks go to them for all their past help.

Video projection equipment was supplied for this festival by Surrey University and a new top trophy, in memory Leonard Robinson, was provided by Terence Patrick, the Festival chairman

  • 3 were on 16mm

  • 12 won awards

  • 6 won Certificates of Merit

10 entries were comedy, 17 were documentaries, 19 were fiction,  6 natural history, 7 were 'other'. 6 of these were also animation.
