This year the committee had to review whether it continued at all with the 2009 event as there has been so little support in organising it. Some long standing committee member have moved on and we need replacements. We will continue with the 2009 event but if we are to have future events in 2010 onwards, we need more clubs and individuals to help, both with the organisation and with new ideas for the festival as a whole. With new media formats now available to use, we want to incorporate these in the competitions and we need volunteers to help make this happen.
If you can help or need more on how you can contribute, or if you know of a club or other people who could help, please contact us.
The 2008 Festival was held on Sunday 20 January and was a good success. There were 31 entries of which 19 were shown in the time available at the festival. Sadly, there were no entries in the youth, student or junior categories, although we are hoping for some John 'work in progress' efforts to appear at the next festival. We ended up wit an audience of over 60 which was just enough to create the right sort of atmosphere and hopefully everyone who attened had an anjoyable and rewarding time.
All
three judges, Colin Jones, Reg Lancaster and Charlie Casely were at the
Festival. Colin gave his valued comments on the entries in general and
Reg handed out the prizes.
David Longley, the Film Competition Officer, did a stalwart job of organising the judging and much of the festival and he also acted as MC for the day.
Colin Pain managed to extract money from most of the audience for the raffle, which had an abundance of prizes for the lucky few.

The Electric Theatre in Guildford proved again to be a convivial location for a great day of watching maovies. The raked seating, large rear projection screen and just a few steps aways, the bar and refreshment area. During the day the three sessions were attended by a gradually incresing audinece size culminating in a good turnout for the awarsd ceremony in the evening.
We will shortly be listing the awards and photos and information for club newletter writers.
